ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
We could not be more delighted with the number of abstracts received over the last month – almost 800 submissions! Thank you very much for your interest in being part of the scientific program of SIL 100 !
The deadline for submitting abstracts was
20 April 2022, at 23:59 H in Berlin (22:59 UTC)
ABSTRACT FORMAT
Abstracts for oral or e-poster contributions must be written in English and not exceed 250 words. The body of the text consists of a single paragraph and contains no figures, photos or tables. The abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee, which may suggest changes from oral to poster presentations and vice versa. Decisions will be based on scientific strength, fit to the session theme, novelty, clarity of the abstract, and contribution to diversity of the overall program. To ensure the most effective communication, the Scientific Committee may also suggest editorial changes to submitted abstracts prior to digital publication. Abstracts that are incomplete, far off-topic, or poorly presented may be rejected. Please note that only one oral presentation or ePoster is allowed for each presenting author. However, there is no restriction for co-authorship on multiple oral presentations or ePosters.
Oral presentations will be 10-15 min, depending on the final session organization, and can be held onsite or online. However, preference will be given to live presentations at the venue. The presentation language is English. We request pre-recording of all presentations to ensure online availability both during and after the congress, as well as smooth sessions in case of technical problems. Technical instructions on recording formats will be provided to the presenters in due course.
Posters will be in English and presented in e-formats. These can be short video clips (up to 3 min) or classic one-page posters in landscape format for screen presentation. Further technical instructions will be provided to the presenters. All ePosters will be available online throughout the congress and at least three months thereafter. For onsite presentations, a number of large screens will be set up at the venue. They will be accessible at all times during the congress. To facilitate interaction, ePoster presenters will have access to individual video chatrooms for private meetings, which can be ad hoc or scheduled both during and three months after the congress. Exchange in person onsite is encouraged particularly during a two-hour ePoster session at the venue. We plan to serve drinks and light food during that session.
WHAT IF THE CONGRESS OR ATTENDANCE IN PERSON BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE?
In the unexpected case that an in-person congress turns out not to be feasible, the entire event will be moved online. The difference in registration fees between onsite and online attendance will be reimbursed in that case. In the event that the congress takes place but presenters are unable to join in person because of pandemic-related travel restrictions imposed by authorities, their presentations will be given online. Here, the difference in registration fees between onsite and online attendance will be reimbursed as well.
